GREAT SUNSHINE COAST VACATIONS 1-877-883-2424
Winter is a wonderful time to visit the Sunshine Coast if you’re looking to ‘live like a local’ – quiet drives (sometimes you’ll have the curvy ride up Hwy 101 all to yourself!), evenings at local pubs and Legion halls, art gallery visits on weekends, and a sleepy winter harbour at your doorstep. Nearby lakes are often like glass, and there are many opportunities for wildlife and nature photography all over the Coast. Hikes into the backcountry are close by, and 45 minutes away is the Dakota Ridge Winter Recreation Area with brand new snowshoe, cross-country and skate ski trails this year along with a redone Quonset Warming Hut.
On days when the ocean is calm you’ll even find folks enjoying winter kayaking and paddleboarding. A group of paddlers even joined the Sechelt Inlet Christmas Carol Cruise December 14 for a 3km paddle to the park on the eastern shore. As long as you’re geared up for it and conservative in your paddling it’s an awesome winter activity for those folks who can bring their own kayaks in the off-season.
Cottages and Chalets require a minimum 2 night booking year round and 3 night minimum on holiday weekends. Motel rooms are available in the off-season without a minimum nights requirement, and Yurts are open only for shoulder & peak seasons (April – October).
If you are planning to visit the Sunshine Coast next summer, we are already taking 2014 bookings so call today to get your holiday booked.
